Are you looking for a nursing bra with a lacy, vintage feel? This Black/Nude Sophie Nursing bra from Panache is a wonderful bra; practical with a luxurious feel, from an established brand. Panache Lingerie was awarded ‘Best Maternity Lingerie’ at the Pregnancy and Birth Bloom Awards 2012. Best of all, it’s available up to a J cup!
So what does it look like? The cups are made of a nude colour lining with a beautiful black lace overlay and a matching nude bow between the cups. The straps are black.
The cups of this bra are soft, with a full-cup design that drops away to allow you access to the breast. They are lined with soft jersey fabric, with a side sling to support you when the cups are down. There is no padding, but the cups are made in three parts to support and shape your bust. As the material is slightly stretchy, this bra might not be as supportive as you would usually expect from a Panache bra, so this is something to consider when choosing your nursing bra.
This bra has an elasticated band around the chest, supporting you without underwires. Health care professionals suggest that wearing a bra with underwires whilst feeding may lead to the development of mastitis.
How practical is this bra? The Sophie Nursing bra has adjustable straps and six hook and eye positions so you can find your perfect fit even as your body changes. In D-G cups, there are two hook fastenings, and in the GG-J cup sizes, there are three, giving you more support at the back. The back is designed to reduce the amount the straps can move, and there are one-handed nursing clips on the straps, allowing you to drop the cups quickly and easily whilst holding your baby in the other hand. Sometimes speed is essential!
To keep your Panache bra in the best condition, we would recommend hand washing it. If you would like a different colour, this bra is available in Ivory/Candy Pink as well - please see below for this option.
So why do we like this Black/Nude Panache Sophie Nursing Bra? We love the vintage, lacy feel of the design, and knowing that it’s from Panache is a real bonus, especially if you have worn their bras before.
MATERIAL THICKNESS OF CUPS:
We try to rate how thick the cups are of each bra, so you are not surprised by this when the bra turns up! We rate this out of 5, so 1/5 is thin cups, 5 out of 5 is thick. We would rate the thickness of the cups of the cups of this bra as 3 out of 5.
WIDTH OF BRA STRAPS
How wide are the straps of this nursing bra? We measured a D cup bra and it came out as 15mm (compare this to one of your own bras to see how wide this feels). The straps then rise to a width of 17mm once you get to an E cup and above. So from D-DD, it is 15mm, then from E and above it is 17mm.
